Overview
A former employer of mine was committed to building diverse teams, but I noticed that employees without relevant experience sometimes struggled to hit the ground running. While the company offered documentation to help, many people found it to be overwhelming.
After speaking with colleagues, I discovered that gamifying the learning experience could be a fun and effective solution. That's why I created The Digital Dominator Game, an engaging game set in a far-off galaxy that challenges players to match digital terms with their definitions.
Players earn 10 points for each correct match, but lose a life if they fail. With five lives to start and a chance to earn up to 160 points, the game offers plenty of opportunity for fun and learning. At the end, players receive a detailed stats report, giving them the option to try again or exit with a sense of accomplishment.
Process
To ensure efficient project development, I collected all necessary assets beforehand.
- Reviewed our glossary for digital and developer terms.
- Shortened the definitions of those terms using ChatGPT.
- Searched for royalty free sounds for the background music and selector music.
- Searched for a galaxy image on Freepik.
Design & Development
To establish the desired tone, I meticulously crafted a color scheme that not only delights the user but also functions seamlessly in the galaxy game.
Once I decided on the main layout of the game, I continued this look onto the other slide layers.
